Free Gourmet Popcorn Recipes

Popcorn isn’t just for the movie theater, movie nights at home or the fair. Popcorn and different popcorn recipes are associated with Halloween and Christmas. Making popcorn together for a holiday or just for a healthy snack can be a fun activity for kids and parents.

Start with one of our many unpopped popcorn varieties like White Diamond or Yellow Topaz. Pop it on the stove in one of our Old Fashioned Popcorn Popper’s found in our Popcorn Gift Sets. Kids will love actually watching the popcorn being prepared on the stove instead of just listening for the “ding” from the microwave. Make a sweet treat with cinnamon and sugar seasoning or try pumpkin pie spice for an appropriate seasonal flavor. We also offer a wonderful line of popcorn seasonings!

Movie Night Popcorn

Gourmet Popcorn Balls using our Petite Amber!

Makes 7 popcorn balls!

1/2 cup local honey
1/4 cup sugar
1 tablespoon real butter
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
5 cups of petitie princess amber

  1. Put 5 cups of popcorn in a large bowl and set aside.
  2. In a large microwave-safe bowl, combine honey, sugar, cinnamon and butter. Cover with plastic wrap and microwave on high for 30 seconds at a time or to 300° F for 6-8 minutes.
  3. Pour honey mixture over popcorn and stir quickly to coat with a wooden spoon then set aside to cool.
  4. Butter your hands then shape popcorn into balls. We like to use plastic gloves for this part, it’s cleaner and you don’t have to wear butter!

Here’s another cool recipe for a old-time popcorn ball. It uses sugar and corn syrup but it wouldn’t be old fashioned without!

An interesting twist is to add cocoa and cayenne to the heated mixture. Experiment and have fun with it!

Gourmet Popcorn

Before there was sparkly garland, families hung garlands of popcorn around their Christmas trees. Due to its large size when popped, Yellow Topaz is a great choice for stringing. While you’re decorating your tree, pop some Baby Opal for making popcorn balls. Baby Opal has a naturally sweet taste so you can use less sweetener in your popcorn ball recipe (see above!)

Your holiday guests are always hungry and impatient for you to put the Thanksgiving or Christmas meal on the table. Put out a couple of bowls of our specialty popcorns to quell the munchies. Fiery Garnet and Baby Blue Sapphire both pop up with unusual colors that will complement your holiday table and surprise your guests. For those who dislike popcorn hulls and find popcorn difficult to eat, offer Petite Princess Amber, known as the tenderest popcorn you can find. Since your guests may have different dietary requirements, why not present the popcorn unseasoned and set out a variety of our gourmet seasonings like Vermont White Cheddar or Natural Pink Mineral Salt?

Our gourmet popcorn and old-fashioned poppers make great gifts. Birthday of a co-worker coming up? Not sure what to get that one hard-to-buy-for person for Christmas? No fear! We have great popcorn gift sets available for everyone on your list. The Crown Jewel gift set, containing a one 2lb pound bag of each variety of popcorn we carry, makes a wonderful gift or you can send one home with each of your guests during the holidays. After they try the best, they won’t be satisfied with microwave popcorn ever again!
